Posting has been a bit light this week. Sorry about that. It's due to a technical issue that I really don't have to get too technical about. I forgot my camera cord at home.
Along with my phone charger. These two pretty important pieces of equipment have had a lovely vacation this week. I was especially frustrated because I took some pretty cool pictures last weekend and I was really excited to post them. So next week when I post them please pretend along with me that they are not a week old? Thanks.
I'm on the go a lot. I still go home every weekend and usually before I get unpacked from the weekend before it's time to pack up again. Thursdays come around quickly. Because I'm a veteran at this vagabond lifestyle I have packing down pat. I have made it really easy on myself by having doubles of some key items that I leave at their respective homes. Am I taking things too far? Maybe. Pretty soon I may just be able to say bye to Grandma and Grandpa, grab my purse, hop in my car and head west and then do the same but head east 3 days later. Ok, typing that out made it sound worse than it did in my head. It is getting a little ridiculous. But I really didn't like forgetting the same things every weekend. So I have doubles of deodorant, because nobody likes a smelly Jessi, toothbrushes, pillows, comfy clothes, shampoos, conditioners, Bibles, combs, and the list goes on. I could even argue that this mentality is why I have so many clothes, and continue to buy more....
But obviously I need to double up on adapters, cords, and chargers. Then I should have everything I need...in doubles....
Blessings!

2010? 2011? 2012.
It always amazes me how quickly December flies by. One minute it's Thanksgiving the next its New Years.
Wanna know something else that amazes me?
How January seems to craaawl by.
I can't get over how the 31 days of December seem like they happened eons ago. The hub-bub of the holidays really messes with the passing of time. I don't think it has helped that it's been 50+ degrees more often than not. It feels like spring. Like I should be writing final papers and in reality I've only went to school for 16 days. This is the only instance when I wish that days could count as weeks. While December was full of activity and emotion, it's January that has left me exhausted. Like I just ran a marathon. (not the best analogy because well, I've never ran a marathon.) Maybe its all catching up with me, maybe I needed that long to recover. It's almost like I just had to get through this month to know that this whole 2012 thing was alright. Side Note: I dated a paper 2010 the other day, must have been a good one.
So I welcome February and it's 29 days.
Blessings!

this lady's random musings.
I can't find any matching socks.
Good thing I don't worry too much about matching socks.
You can buy it with 3 easy payments of $39.95.
A lady brought her 5 month old to class today and I thought to myself- "How can I get me one of those?" (no, no, no, jessica)
No, I don't need the birds and the bees talk. I didn't mean it literally.
I'm pretty sure I want a pet goat.
That is all.
Blessings!

the 3/50 project
I'm a pretty well rounded lady. My interests and passions are pretty vast. One of them being business, in particular small business. My heart is in rural America. It's where I'm from, it's who I am. I have posted before about being Conscientious Consumers because it really is a part of my life, it's something I take very seriously. People joke about our black and white consumer habits and we smile and play along but the bottom line is- we genuinely care about the small businesses in our community and its surrounding area, heck really the whole U.S. We understand how codependent we are on each other, we get it.
We don't hold these values and live and shop the way we do just to be difficult or different, we do it because we see it as vital to our own well-being, our communities well-being, our country's well-being. That may sound dramatic but its the truth.
As a daughter of two people who run two small businesses in my community this topic also hits very close to home. I see and understand these values on level that is my families everyday reality and so I can understand other small business owners reality. When I got on Facebook today I saw that my mom had shared the flyer below. I read through it and thought: This is going on the blog. It is such a cool campaign!
So while I ramble on about how important it is, this poster breaks it down into manageable numbers. Numbers that for the most part we can all understand. (except for the $42,629,700,000 -to me thats such an abstract figure, I can't wrap my mind around it except that it's "a lot") It makes it seem even more doable. $50? Come on, that's easy enough, spend it like they said and get something for someone else, or buy things you need. Don't expect your neighbor to make up your difference, just get out in your community and keep your dollar at home. Because if we don't- then who will?
Blessings!
