Wedding Wednesday

This week I've been thinking about invitations. Trying to decide if I want to make my own or order them and save myself the time. But then again, when I go to order these types of things I never believe the company has what I want, even if I do not really know what I want.

Then there's the whole idea that the invitation sets the tone for the event. I'm doing really good at not getting all tied up in that thought and focusing on what I like and what represents us. However, I'm not sure that a cast iron skillet and a jar of homemade deodorant would make for a very appealing reception invitation. I could be wrong though, I've been before...that one time.

I also get distracted while looking for inspiration.

And I catch myself looking at an invitation that has nothing to do with us, or the party, or anything else our the world. Except that it has my name.

Then there is this one that still has me confused.

If anyone out there has any insights on this invitation please tell me. I get that the bear is "bearing gifts" clever-I guess. But WHY?

So if anyone has any tips, tricks, or brilliant insights as to what they think the perfect invitation for us would be shout it out! I'd love some help. It's the first time during this deal that I'm kinda drawing a blank.

And that's concludes week's Wedding Wednesday.

Wedding Wednesday

As promised I've got pictures to show you!
We feel so blessed to have Alli D as our friend and thank her for being such a good sport during the snowfall and coooold. We wanted snow and then the day of pictures the snow started to fall and added to the collection already on the ground.

I made this sign out of an old door panel and some wooden letters I found at work. Smitten is one of my favorite words.

We acquired a pickup from the 1960's that we used as a really big prop, I can't wait to see more. Also, do those mittens look familiar?

Alli posted this one to facebook but I figured that you guys might want to see one of our whole faces. I don't do that too often on here.

Annnd she shared this one too, but it's my favorite and I love it, and I had to share because I knew it would look so pretty on my blog. Check out Alli D Photography's Page! Can't wait to see the rest!

Remember those 14 bazillion emails? Well I'm over that. Know why? Because we found a photographer! She is talented and kind. When I found her page and went through her work we both just felt at ease and it felt like the right move. My mom thought she had a great eye so we inquired and booked her. Visit her facebook page-{Shutter & Snap} Photography. We are so thrilled to have her! However I'm not sure she knows what she's in for...with my brothers, Jerrel's brothers, she's in for a treat, or something like that.

And that concludes this week's Wedding Wednesday.

Blessings!

A Good Day

A good day is when I don't have to get out of my sweats.

A good day is when it's cloudy and hazy outside.

A good day is when my Green Tea always seems to be the right temperature.

A good day is when I can be crocheting one minute then baking the next, then I might do some homework, or I might make some hair bows.

A good day is when I can actually live like my mind works.

A good day is when we get to eat steak.

A good day is when I don't have to shower because my hair doesn't look that gross in my ponytail.

A good day is when Lucy gets to lay inside on her bed all day.

A good day is when everyone is home, in and out of the house but still sticking around. Cleaning the house, packing up the Christmas lights, and finishing last minute school projects.

Yes that's a good day.

Blessings!

Our snow all but melted Friday and Saturday. So I'm already reminiscing about our blizzard in December and praying for more snow soon.

Thrifty Thursday

Thrifty
Thriftier; Thriftiest
1. Thriving by industry and frugality: prosperous.

It's Thrifty Thursday, the time of the week where I share my thrifty finds from garage sales, antique shops, and of course thrift stores.

I'm going to admit this week for Thrifty Thursday I was kinda grasping at straws.

I received flowers this week. I usually get flowers wrapped in paper. We all know how I love that. I get them hold them for a while and then find a vase or jar to put them in. I just feel it's more personal this way.

Senor Smarty Pants and I were talking about flowers with our friend Kaleb and where the best place in Ktown to buy is located. By the way it's Diva's downtown. They are a new shop, but not new to the business. They used to be at Bob's for anyone who knows what I'm talking about. Anyway they are awesome. Then Jerrel explained how he gets them wrapped in paper. I stated how wonderful I found that process and he followed up with "It's cheaper too." I couldn't help but smirk. Look at Senor Smarty Pants being all thrifty and stuff! As for me? I'm just naturally this way apparently!

Blessings!

Where I Come From

I come from a claw-foot bath tub, from pin sol and a warm wood stove.

I come from Christmas music by Alabama.

I come from the tall prairie grass and the freshly cut blue grass.

I come from a cardinal on the Christmas tree and honesty. From thrift stores and a poetry writer. From a doll named Sweetie Pie.

I come from burnt toast and mustard and constant costume changes.

From catching a cold without a coat and from the sweet smell of lilacs.

I come from a Sunday morning service and giving the Grace we have received. I come from night time prayers and goodnight kisses.

I come from a little house in the country and from German Chocolate Cake.

From "camping out" on the living room floor and family vacations.

I come from the brown teapot, the handwritten postcard, the bible bookmark, and the tiny gold ring. All reminding me who I come from.

This is a poem I wrote for one of my classes. We also had to incorporate technology during the process. Publishing on the blog was how I chose to meet that requirement.

Blessings!
