Double Duty

First, Happy 18th Birthday Aaron! You are getting so old! Hope you have a wonderful day!

Aaron is a skilled guitar player. His laughter is infectious, usually because you don't hear it often, he's kinda a serious guy, so when he does laugh you know it must be funny. Usually only Evan can get him to truly laugh. He is handy and helpful. He works hard at school and work, an ethic he has inherited from our Dad. This young man was my first Partner in Crime and I won't make it public about how I used to dress him up and put make-up on him...whoops. Happy Birthday Aaron!

In other News, It's HALLOWEEN! Happy Halloween! No, I don't have any extravagant plans, or a costume. Senor Smarty Pants and I carved pumpkins last night. I had a very sheltered childhood and had never used one of those kits for carving pumpkins, you know the kind with the stencils. So I got ahold of one and tried them out. They work pretty slick. The two on the outside are mine and yes Senor Smarty Pants chose one of the most difficult patterns. I know myself well enough to start out easy, so I don't get frustrated.

He really did awesome. I know I was impressed!

Have a safe and fun Halloween! Eat lots of Candy!

Blessings!

Week 10

I had fall break, which basically was a deep exhale. That is why I've been on a week long sabbatical. I'm in week 10 of my Junior year of college. I've been a Junior forever it seems, and that title isn't really going away anytime soon it looks like. But anyway, week 10! That's where I am and thanks to Fall Break, week 9 seemed basically nonexistent. I went from week 8 to week 10 fairly seamlessly.
Here's the rundown of my week:
Monday-No class-get hair done
Tuesday-No class-lay on couch
Wednesday-Class and babysitting
Thursday-Class then go home-watch football and freeze
Friday-Lay on Senor Smarty Pants couch.

Then came the weekend and well it looked about the same as Friday. With some Husker football thrown in the mix. Ahhh week 9 you will be remembered fondly. If only Fall break and week 9 were real life...

Blessings!

Today

Today is a day. I say that with exasperation, and it's only 10:49 as I type this. It's a day when I woke up feeling down. I could not get motivated to get around, I just wanted to sit on my bed and stare off into space. Not even my normal things that bring my spirits up on a daily basis aren't workin' for me today. I don't have much to say except SIGH. Normally I wouldn't let myself touch my blog with a ten-foot-pole when in a mood like this one, but as I was driving to school a song came on and a few lyrics stood out to me:

Cause He made you to do
Every little thing that you do to bring a smile to His face
And tell the story of grace
With every move that you make
And every little thing you do

I was supposed to hear this song. "And tell the story of grace" is the main one that struck a cord with me. So, that will be my mantra today, I will have to remind myself more than normal, that's for sure.

Blessings!

A Nonfiction Story.

I know, I know, I left you hanging...I'm sure the anticipation is killing you...or maybe not.
A Monday morning. Did you just get a knot in your stomach? I mean there is even a song about the distain of Monday mornings. But my most recent Monday morning was certainly manic, this time though the word "manic" was in a more positive connotation. I am not going to complain about it. Not. One. Bit.

Mom came in my room Monday and woke me up 20 minutes before my alarm. Normally this really would have peeved me BUT the words "Hot Air Balloon" perked me right up. Still confused? So was I. So I got up, looked out the window to the hay field and this is what I saw:

I thought I was dreaming. I had to deliberately blink a few times to clear my vision. But then I had a mission. Get. Picture, Now. Mainly to prove that there really was a Hot Air Ballon in the hay field. It was so beautiful outside, and after I got my pictures I asked why there was a Hot Air Ballon in the hay field. Priorities People!

Apparently they are from some Hot Air Ballon Convention. They took off from New Mexico and are trying to get to Canada but the weather isn't being too kind. They were running out of fuel at one point and had to start throwoing out valuables- Namely their food. They needed to land and thankfully the hay field worked perfectly- as long as they missed the bales. There, they waited for their crew to come. One was from Germany-hence the German ballon.

How did we discover this ballon? Well Aaron came home from taking a friend home, and there they were..He so hospitably greeted them with "Uhhh...guys what are you doing?"

The German Man taking a picture of Senor Smarty Pants and I, We look like we are going UP!
I went out to talk to them and to get a closer look, they said to ask any questions but the only one I could think of was "Can I have a ride? Please?"-It's my dream. But I knew the whole no fuel detail and a slight liability issue made that answer a 100% NO. But they let me get in! The German man-Willy showed me how to climb in and there really is no graceful way to do it you just kinda grab on the the strings and jump on in.

The visit from the Hot Air Balloon taught me two things:
1. I want to be an early riser when I grow up.
2. I want to wake up to a hot air ballon in my hay field while rising early, when I grow up.

Yes-this honestly happened- that's why I posted photographic evidence.

Blessings!
